We are looking to enhance our team by recruiting 2 Counsellor and Wellbeing Workers.
This will enable us to expand our talking therapy services with a particular focus on work within Step Forward, with youth justice and supported accommodation partners as well as local secondary schools and statutory and voluntary sector youth services. These posts will be offered for 30 – 37.5 hours per week (0.8 – Full-time) depending on skills, experience, and availability.
Our Counsellor and Wellbeing Worker/s would need to have a recognised qualification in Counselling or Psychotherapy and have or be working towards their Professional accreditation and have a passion for working with young people.
You will need to be self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team. You will need broad experience of providing evidence based talking therapies and support to young people aged 11-25 including young people deemed as hard to reach.
As one of our roles will require supporting young people within the Youth Justice service, please highlight any relevant experience in your application.
The Counsellor and Wellbeing Worker will be responsible for providing professional and confidential 1-2-1 counselling and support within Step Forward and our partner schools, youth justice services or other youth/health settings and remotely via telephone and video calls. The post holder would need to offer and able to evidence the impact of short, medium- and longer-term therapy to young people depending on their need and organisational or partners requirements. Please outline any experience you have in providing support to young people using different modalities and mediums in your application.
The role will require the post holder to provide counselling/therapy and support to young people with a variety of presenting issues including anxiety and depression; bereavement; relationship or family issues; sexual abuse; trauma; eating disorders, identity issues; sexuality and gender; difficulties in education; and low self-confidence or self-esteem.
