Salary : £24,500 – £28,500 FTE
Hours: 7 hours per week (0.2 FTE)
Contract: Fixed Term until end March 2027

We are looking to enhance our team by recruiting a part-time LGBTQ+ Youth Development Worker. This will enable us to support the services we currently offer with a particular focus on our LGBTQ+ group offer within Step Forward.
This role will suit someone who is suitably qualified and experienced and has a passion for working with young LGBTQ+ people.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of regular group work sessions with young Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans (LGBTQ+) people taking part in the Step Out project.
- Support with the design, delivery, and evaluation of group activities relevant to young LGBTQ+ people. This involves attending and contributing to briefing and debrief sessions with the team
- Help assess the needs of individual young people using the Step Out services and to refer them, with their informed consent, to other members of the Step Forward team or to other agencies, when necessary or relevant.
- Respond to safeguarding situations, liaising with the full time LGBTQ+ Youth Development & Wellbeing Worker/ Designated Safeguarding Lead in accordance with Step Forward’s Safeguarding Policies and procedures
About You
- A recognised qualification or equivalent experience in youth work or relevant profession.
- An in-depth understanding of the issues affecting young Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and non-binary people and those young people questioning their sexuality and/or gender identity. (LGBTQ+)
- A minimum of 1 years’ experience of working with young people, including those who identify as LGBTQ+.
- Experience of working in an organisation that provides support services to young people
- Ability to utilise personal lived experience appropriately to support young people who identify as LGBTQ+.
- A proven track record of providing structured group activities which will help young people in their personal and social wellbeing.
Working with Step Forward
